Today we visited Mount Vernon Mount Vernon was George Washington's home that he inherited from his brother Lawrence, who originally named it Mount Vernon. Mount Vernon is a humongous estate which housed George Washington's family and 300 slaves. The slaves lived in a home away from Washington's house but still on the estate. This housing arrangement helped discourage slave rebellion. George Washington's home from the outside looks if it were made of stone. However, the house is made out of wood and mixed with stone and rock on the outside for the appearance. We walked through the house and around the estate of Mount Vernon ending in the gift shop after a tour of the eduction center showing the life of Washington in chronological order.
