Bus 1: Christ Church

During our tour of Independence Hall, we encountered the Christ Church. This historic church dates back over 300 years, being established in 1695. Being the first English church in the colonies, it's a widely known landmark. Famous colonists gathered in the church for occasions, and the weekly mass. Such colonists included George Washington, Betsy Ross, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Morris, etc. Pews were designated per person; for example, the Washington's had their own personal box, and Robert Morris sat in the pew ahead of the President's box.

Behind the church is the Christ Church burial ground. This sacred land is home to multiple corpses of the church, including Robert Morris, and other parishioners. Some parishioners were buried in the floor of the church (this being based on passion for religion, not wealth.) Benjamin Franklin also has his grave site located there, as well as 4 other Declaration of Independence signers.

The Christ Church, as well as the burial ground located in the back of the landscape, emit immense history of religion in the colonies.
